Working groups

The research activity is organized into four working groups centered around common research interests. The working groups meet regularly in an encouraging environment to discuss relevant research, theories, concepts and methodologies.

Models of time capital
The commodification of time reflects the material dimension of economic embeddedness in the social organization of the world. The research group aims to strengthen methodological approaches centered on understanding how the reality of time capital is manifested in present-day society.
Time in social policy
Time is often ignored in governmental initiatives, regulatory measures and funding allocation. The research group aims to develop knowledge that informs responsible decision-making processes and sustainable management cultures through a ‘timescapes perceptive’ inspired by Barbara Adam.
Digitally mediated temporalities
Technologies have shaped the cultures of time throughout history. Nowadays, digital devices redefine humans’ relation to the world, thus posing new challenges and offering new opportunities to their users. The research group aims to explore the regimes of temporality that emerge in the continuous and multifaceted process of innovation.
Atemporality and immortality
Not only temporality but also atemporality is a constitutive dimension of the social world. Eternity, everlastingness, foreverness are powerful cultural phenomena in which the past, the present and the future intersect on a continuum of material becoming and collective awareness. The research group aims to deepen theoretical inquiry related to symbolic immortality, post-mortem agency, posthumous propinquity and social legacy.
